Staying Safe Online. How to Spot a Scam.

In today’s world of online shopping, convenience is at your fingertips — but so, unfortunately, are scammers. It’s come to our attention that a scam website, based overseas, has been using Kelsey Collective’s images to sell poor-quality imitations of our garments. This is incredibly disappointing and, frankly, upsetting — both for us, and for our community who rely on us for quality, style, and authenticity.
So, we want to help you stay informed and empowered. Because you deserve to feel confident and secure every time you shop with us.
Here are a few helpful ways to protect yourself and shop safely online — whether you’re browsing our site or supporting other small, ethical brands you love:
1. Always Check the Website URL
Our official online home is:
If you're ever unsure whether you're in the right place, take a moment to check the web address. Scammers often create lookalike websites that mimic the branding of genuine businesses but with slight differences in spelling or domain endings (like .net or .store instead of .com.au). If it doesn’t look quite right — trust your gut.
2. Be Wary of Huge Discounts and "Too Good to Be True" Deals
We price our pieces with care — reflecting the quality of our 100% linen, our ethical production, and the craftsmanship of our design process.
If you come across a site claiming to sell our designs at dramatically lower prices, it’s almost certainly not legitimate. We never slash our prices in bulk sales or offer large discounts via obscure websites or unfamiliar social media ads.
3. Not sure where an image really came from?
You can do a reverse image search using Google to check where else a photo appears online — and whether it’s being used by a legitimate brand. Simply right-click the image (or tap and hold on mobile) and select “Search image with Google”. This will show you where the image is being used across the web, so you can spot if it's linked to trusted websites like ours, or being misused by scam retailers. It’s a quick and handy tool to help you shop smarter and safer.
4. Stick to Our Official Social Media Channels
We love sharing styling tips, sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes moments with you, and we only do so via our official platforms:
Instagram: @kelseycollective
Facebook: Kelsey Collective
If you see a sponsored ad that doesn’t come from these pages, or a post offering a deal that sounds "off," please don’t click. Instead, take a screenshot and send it our way so we can investigate.
5. We Only Partner with Trusted Services
When you shop at Kelsey Collective, you’re protected from the first click to the final delivery. We use secure, encrypted payment processors like Shopify Payments and PayPal, and ship exclusively through reputable carriers like Australia Post. If a site asks for strange payment methods or lacks a secure (https://) checkout page — that’s a red flag.
6. Look for Telltale Signs of a Scam Site
Some quick clues that something’s not quite right:
-
Poor grammar or spelling throughout the site
-
No contact information or vague "About Us" pages
-
Product photos that look like they’ve been pulled from elsewhere (…like ours!)
-
No reviews or customer feedback
- Check shipping & returns. Is there a valid business address provided?
7. Your Voice Matters — Report Suspicious Activity
If you ever spot something that looks suspicious — whether it’s a fake ad, a dodgy email, or a lookalike website — please let us know. You can email us at contact@kelseycollective.com.au and we’ll take action right away.
Together, we can help protect others in our community from being misled.
